Hi Shellbackers, I had two requests in the same day to purchase THREE Shellbacks, so I created a new Rewards category called the Early Turtle gets the worm TRIPLE. Backers now have the option for one, two, three, or five backpacks in a single order. Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Keep them coming!
Does the Fear of Forgetting Something At Home Prevent you from Biking to Work?

Hi Shellbackers,
I get it. I am one of the most absent-minded people I know. As I kid I lost glasses, wallets, watches and retainers (eventually found that in a model ship!). I overcame that with checklists and putting everything in its own place. That is how we designed the Shellback--everything has it's place; there is a place for everything. We specifically avoided the backpack model that more is more. We think that less is more and designed every compartment, pocket, and holder for a specific purpose. And that purpose is to get you to the workplace and back without leaving anything behind.
We've added this video to show you how the Shellback Simplifies your morning routine, Organizes your items, and Protects you from the elements for certain, but also protects you from leaving that crucial wardrobe item on the dresser. That is the Shellback SOP.

Accessory Compartment Interior View

Hi Shellbackers,
I've received some questions regarding the functionality of the Accessory Compartment--the compartment where you store you toiletries, accessories, underwear, towel, etc. Since we had our testers review the prototype, we've adopted a number of design changes that increases the simplicity and organization of this compartment. Among the design changes are larger net pockets, an additional elastic net pocket on the wing, and about 1 cm more vertical space to allow room for extra fluffy bath towels or perhaps something else we've never even considered. Note you won't see them in this video, but they WILL be in the production model.
The video is a quick demonstration of how easy it is to pack: cufflinks, watch, moisturizer, underwear, toiletries bag, a tie, and a towel. We've also demonstrated how the Shoe Well easily takes my size 11 Johnston & Murphy's while easily storing a 1L Nalgene bottle on the other end. The Shoe Well will safely fit shoes up to size 12.
New Reward Category Added--Cycling Turtle MULTI

Cycling Turtle MULTI
Hi Shellbackers! I received a number of emails asking how potential backers can buy more than 2 backpacks. If you don't know, you can only back once for each email address, so getting more than 2 backpacks could prove problematic. So I added the Cycling Turtle MULTI, which includes (5) basic Shellbacks and (5) complete accessory packages. It is by far the best value for your dollar, with the free accessories adding up to nearly $240, and the base pack costing only $145.

22 January
Wow, what a great first day! 30 backers from 7 countries supported the Bike to Work Movement and bringing the Shellback to life. It was an amazing feeling to press the LAUNCH key on Kickstarter and have this event begin to unfold. We also had a number of backers pledge money in lieu of a backpack. To all of the Day 1 30, thank you for helping us start off with a great start. This is a great example of our Teaspoons of Change concept where a lot of people making small actions can have a big impact.
There are 18 days to go to reach our funding goal of $36,000. We need your continued help to meet that target--sharing our message and your support is the best way to make that happen. Please share the Kickstarter link with your friends, family, and biker community, found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/win-the-race/bike-to-work-backpack-for-fearless-commuters
In the days ahead, I'll continue to communicate with you and also share features, clips, and history from the development of the Shellback. I welcome you to the Shellback Bike to Work Community!
